Privacy Policy

Rounds is a free NREMT prep tool built by working EMS instructors. We try to keep this simple: we collect the smallest amount of information we need to build the product and stay in touch with you, and we never sell your data. This page explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it.

Who we are

This site (roundsems.com) and the Rounds NREMT prep app are operated by Rounds Education LLC, a Florida limited liability company. When this policy says "Rounds," "we," "us," or "our," we mean Rounds Education LLC.

Information we collect

Email address. If you sign up for our waitlist or updates, we collect the email address you give us so we can send you product news and launch information.

Basic technical information. Like most websites, our hosting provider (Vercel) automatically receives standard request data when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, the page you requested, and a timestamp. This is used for site reliability and security.

Information you send us. If you email us at hello@roundsems.com, we keep that message and our reply so we can help you.

App and account information. Rounds has no password. You sign in one of three ways, and what we hold depends on which you choose:

• Phone number. If you sign in with your phone, we store your number and send you a one-time code by text.
• Sign in with Google or Apple. We store the account identifier the provider gives us, and the email address they share with us if they share one. Apple may give us a private relay address instead of your real one, which is fine.

Alongside that we hold: the display name, username and US state you choose; your study activity (questions answered, whether you got them right, scores, streaks, XP and progress); the answers you give in the short survey when you first open the app; anything you type into feedback, a question flag or a report; your certification level and topic preferences; and basic device information including a notification token so we can send the study reminders you turn on.

How we use your information

• To send you product updates, launch announcements, and study tips you signed up for.
• To deliver and improve the Rounds website and app.
• To respond when you contact us.
• To keep the site secure and prevent abuse.
• To comply with our legal obligations.

How we share your information

We do not sell your personal information. We only share it with the service providers we need to run Rounds, and only what those providers need to do their job. Today that means:

• Amazon Web Services (United States), which hosts the Rounds servers and database and stores our encrypted backups.
• Vercel, which hosts roundsems.com.
• Twilio, which sends the one-time sign-in code to your phone. They receive your phone number.
• Apple and Google, if you use Sign in with Apple or Sign in with Google, and Apple for anything you purchase in the app.
• Firebase (Google), which delivers push notifications and reports app crashes.
• Amplitude, which records which screens and features get used. These events are tied to your Rounds account identifier once you sign in, so that the same person on two devices is not counted as two people. Amplitude does not receive your name, phone number or email address.
• Superwall, which runs the Rounds Pro upgrade screen. It receives your Rounds account identifier, your first name, whether you are a Pro subscriber, your streak, how many questions you have answered, your accuracy, your exam date if you have set one, and the topic you told us you find hardest. These are used to decide which upgrade screen to show you and to fill in its text.
• Meta (Facebook), whose app-events SDK is included in the iPhone app so we can tell whether an ad campaign produced an install, a sign-up or a purchase. Meta receives your Rounds account identifier, the fact that you installed and opened the app, the method you signed up with (phone, Google or Apple), the fact that you completed your first quiz, and any purchase you make in the app. It does not receive your phone number, your email address, your name or your quiz answers, and the app does not give Meta your device's advertising identifier. This is sharing for targeted advertising, and under several state privacy laws it counts as a “share” of personal information. To opt out, email us at hello@roundsems.com and we will disable it for your account.
• Sentry, which tells us when our servers throw an error so we can fix it. It receives the technical fault itself — which part of our code failed and the address of the request that triggered it. We have deliberately switched off everything Sentry would otherwise collect by default: it does not receive your name, phone number, email address, IP address, or the contents of anything you sent us.
• Stripe, if you ever pay outside the App Store.
• Kit (kit.com, formerly ConvertKit), which stores email addresses and delivers our marketing emails.

We may also disclose information if we are required to by law, a valid court order, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Rounds or our users.

What other people using Rounds can see

Rounds has a leaderboard. If you appear on it, the display name and US state you chose are visible to every other person using Rounds, along with your XP. Your phone number, your email address and your quiz answers are never shown to anyone else.

You control what that name says, so you can use a first name, initials or a nickname rather than your full name. You can change it any time in the app under Profile. Within the app you can also report a name you think breaks the rules, and block someone so that neither of you appears on the other's leaderboard.

Your choices

• Unsubscribe from emails. Every email we send has an unsubscribe link in the footer. Click it and you are off the list.
• Delete your account yourself, from inside the app. Open Profile, then Preferences, then Delete Account. This is not a hide or a deactivate: it erases the account row and everything attached to it, including your quiz history and every answer, your saved and flagged questions, your onboarding survey answers, your streak and XP, your friends and blocks, any feedback you sent us, and the notification token for your phone. Your name comes off the leaderboard because the record behind it is gone. It happens immediately and it cannot be undone.
• Access or correct your data, or delete it by email. Email hello@roundsems.com and we will confirm what we have, fix anything inaccurate, or delete your record. We will respond within 30 days.
• State-specific rights. If you live in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, or another state with a consumer privacy law, you have additional rights including the right to know, the right to delete, the right to correct, and the right to opt out of certain processing. You can exercise any of these by emailing us at the address above.

Cookies and tracking

roundsems.com runs two third-party trackers. Google Analytics measures how the site is used, and the Meta (Facebook) Pixel tells us whether our ads brought someone here and lets us advertise to people who have visited. The Meta Pixel is a cross-site advertising tracker, and under some state privacy laws sharing data with it counts as a "share" of personal information for targeted advertising. You can opt out with any standard tracker-blocking extension or your browser's Do Not Track setting, or by emailing us at the address below.

Neither tracker runs on the sign-in page or on your dashboard. Those pages carry only what is needed to keep you signed in. The iPhone app does not carry the Meta Pixel, but it does include Meta's app-events SDK, described in the sharing list above.

Children's privacy

Rounds is intended for users 16 and older who are studying for the National Registry EMT or paramedic exam. The site and app are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe we have, please contact us at hello@roundsems.com and we will delete it.

How we protect your information

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the information we hold, including encryption in transit, access controls, and reputable service providers. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, so we cannot promise absolute security, but we work to limit risk.

Data retention

We keep your email address and any messages you send us for as long as you remain subscribed or until you ask us to delete them. Server request logs are kept for a short period for security and operational reasons, and the phone numbers and email addresses in them are stripped out before they are written. Encrypted backups of our database are kept on a rolling basis for about a week, so a deleted record can persist in a backup for that long before it ages out. Account data is kept while your account is active.

Two things outlive a deleted account, and neither one identifies you once it is gone. If you reported a problem with one of our questions, the report stays in our editing queue with your name and account removed from it, because it is a note about our content rather than about you, and we would otherwise lose the correction. If you bought a subscription, the record of that payment stays in our accounting for as long as tax and refund rules require. It holds the amount, the date and an internal reference number, and no name, phone number or email address.

International visitors

Rounds is operated from the United States. If you visit from outside the U.S., your information will be processed in the United States, which may have different privacy laws than your country.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date at the top of the page, and for significant changes we will give notice on the site or by email.

Governing law

This policy is governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to its conflict of laws rules.
